Kinzua Bridge State Park & Skywalk

Walk out over the Kinzua Gorge on what was once the tallest railroad bridge in the world.

Skywalk status: The Skywalk and Kinzua Creek Trail are under rehabilitation. They reopened for fall foliage season, with the Skywalk reopening September 1 and the trail reopening September 5, 2026, and will close again after October 31, 2026. Work is scheduled to finish in fall 2027. Check DCNR alerts before visiting.

The Story of the Kinzua Viaduct

• 1882: The original wrought-iron viaduct opens, 301 feet tall and 2,053 feet long, the tallest railroad bridge in the world at the time and nicknamed the Eighth Wonder of the World.

• 1900: Rebuilt in steel to carry heavier trains.

• 2003: A tornado topples 11 of the bridge's 20 towers.

• 2011: The surviving section reopens as the Kinzua Skywalk, a walkway about 600 feet into the gorge with a partial glass floor at the end.

• 2016: A new Visitor Center opens with interactive exhibits, a gift shop and views of the Skywalk.
